I was born and grew up in Hochiminh city (old name is Sai Gon), the current busiest city in Vietnam. My family gave me the name Tran Phuoc Duy (チャン フ ズイ), which can exactly write in Kanji: 陳福唯. Since I am the only son in my family, "Duy" serves as that meaning.
My childhood was such a memory of Taekwondo, computer programming and gaming, which leaded me to the passion with computational science in my undergraduate period. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Hochiminh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University Hochiminh City (Vietnam), where I became a faculty member of Faculty of Applied Sciences from 2011. I was lucky to receive supports from the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics and other organizations to attend multiple schools, workshops to enhance the knowledge in theoretical physics as well as computational sciences. From 2014, I enrolled in the doctoral program of Computational Biology and Medical Sciences at Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo under supervision of Professor Akio Kitao. The Hitachi Global Foundation gave me a wonderful support (financial and others) during my doctoral course in The University of Tokyo.
From 2017, I was researcher of School of Life Sciences and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology in Kitao laboratory. Later I moved to Tsuda lab, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo as researcher from 2018 where I enhanced my interest in Artificial Intelligence. In April 2019, I was promoted to Assistant Professor of School of Life Science and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and be faculty member until now. My research interests are all about computational biophysics, biomolecular functional design, protein structure prediction, and biomaterial science.
I love music (both modern and classical), Sci-Fi, love movies, photography, gym, and martial arts. I am very easy in eating but be fascinated with delicious dishes. Although I used to love traveling to learn the differences in culture, I am currently not willing to spend much time on travelling but working, still keeping the curiosity on culture differences and nature beauty.
Tokyo Japan is my second hometown. I love this place because of the people, my friends, the convenience and crowding of the city, delicious cuisine as well as the unique culture, the hospitality of Japanese, and the environment from corners to corners of Tokyo. I really appreciate the Hitachi Global Foundation for supporting me the PhD program in Japan, and bringing me to most of the famous places all over Japan to discover Japanese culture and history.
